The Cult of Black and white Cinematic Symbolism (Part 20)...What do the movies "BlacKKKlansman" and "Sorry to Bother You", have in common with gay christian churches?

“Street knowledge amazes the scholars when we coin phrases for dollars...”
—Jay-Z, from the song, Bring it On”

Ronald Stallworth was born in Chicago, Illinois on June 18th, 1953. A few years later, his mother moved him and his family to El Paso, Texas, where he was raised. And in the summer of 1972, his family moved again to Colorado Springs, Colorado, where he developed an interest in law enforcement.

After becoming a police cadet, and a rookie cop, In 1979, Ron was hired on as the first Black detective in the Colorado Springs police department. Mind you, as a detective, Ron was initially assigned to the records room, where he was reviled by his bigoted white co-workers, before he requested to go out in the field.

And Ron's very first undercover assignment, was to “observe” a Stokely Carmichael speech, when brotha Stokely was slated to speak at a “Black nightclub”. Ron eagerly accepted the task—and after his surveillance of the Carmichael lecture came off without a hitch, Ron was assigned to the “intelligence” department.

Now, let's stop here a sec'.

Understand, the first thing Colorado law enforcement had Ron do, was spy on Stokely, at a Black club. Notice, they didn't have him solve any local crimes or track down any fugitives, they had him watching someone who was associated with the Black Power movement. And unfortunately, the overwhelming majority of the “leaders” in the Black Conscious Community (BCC), have followed this same trajectory. Only difference is, the majority of the leaders in the BCC were ex-cons, before they were indoctrinated into white fascist freemasonry, and inserted into the BCC.

Well, one day, while going about his detective duties, Ron stumbled on an ad for the Colorado Springs chapter of the KKK. He called the ad's number pretending to be a white man, and once Ron's verbal slight-of-hand got him accepted into the klan's ranks, he teamed up with a jewish co-worker by the name of Flip Zimmerman, who would play Ron when he physically had to meet with klan members. And mind you, this is based on a true story, where Ron not only got to talk to the now infamous grand wizard of the klan, David Duke, but where he actually meets him in the flesh, due to an assignment he got to provide security for Dave.

Now, the team surrounding Ron's infiltration of the klan, was tasked with stopping a violent mission they had against Colorado's Black populusbut understand, that's not the focus of this post.

Moreover, I'm sure this movie is as entertaining as it is informative, and I'm glad Spike is getting some of the accolades he so rightly deserves, but, I haven't yet seen this flick. And while I do plan to go check it out in the future, what I'm more focused on, has to do with a line of dialogue in this flick's trailer, that I think everyone's heard. Cause it speaks to the very nucleus of the world's gold standard of cultural currency.

But we'll get to that a bit later in this post...

Raymond Lawrence Riley, better known as “Boots” Riley (left), was born on April 1st, 1971 in Chicago, Illinois (another Chi-town native, like Ron Stalworth), and by the time he was 6, Boots' family had moved to Detroit, Michigan, before settling down in Oakland, California.

Boots' parents were community activists and organizers, which informed Boots' political ideologies, and had him joining the “International Committee against Racism” and the “Progressive Labor Party”, at ages 14 and 15 respectively.

Boots bought his political bent to a budding musical career, when he formed the Hip-Hop group, “The Coup”, in 1991, with a UPS co-worker of his, who called herself “Pam the Funkstress”. He was the emcee, and she, the DJ.

In 1992, The Coup was signed to the recording label, “Wild Pitch Records/EMI”, and their first album released in 1993, was called, “Kill my landlord”. The album spawned two singles, “Dig it” and “Not Yet Free”, and their videos aired on “BET” and “Yo! MTV Raps”. Now, beyond this, the group has gotten a lot of critical acclaim for it's politically conscious rap music, and their discography is as follows: “Genocide and Juice” (1994), “Steal this album” (1998), “Party Music” (2001), and “Pick a Bigger Weapon” (2006).

Now, while Boots embarked on his musical endeavors, he took some time to teach a daily high school class that he called, “Culture and Resistance, The Art of Persuasive Writing”, at the School of Social Justice and Community Development, in East Oakland, California. And even more recently, he's parlayed his lyrical talents into screen-writing. The result of this being his script for the recently released flick, “Sorry to Bother You”, which was distributed in theaters on July of this year.

And mind you, Boots not only created the movie's soundtrack, but he also directed this flick.

Now, the basic premise of this film is this: a young African-american telemarketer, Cassius “Cash” Green, adopts a white accent to excel at his job, and once he does, he gets swept into a conspiracy where he has to choose whether or not he'll make money at humanity's expense, or join his activist friends to organize laborers. And for those who don't know, this is a subject that's dear to Boots' heart, cause he recently came out as a “communist”.

Moving on...

Now, a few weeks ago, I was walking a downtown street, when I saw a church with a rainbow flagged banner across it's front window. Now, I know this is the universally accepted symbol for gays, but when I looked at the writing on this particular banner, I saw the terms, “queer”, “lesbian”, “bi-sexual”, “transgender”, etc., and in big white block letters next to these terms, the phrase, “It's all good” was featured.

I just shook my head and kept walking.

Now, you might be asking yourself, bruh—this stuff is nice to know, but what the heck do these things have in common?

Welp, like I've said previously, the gold standard of cultural currency the world over, is Black Street Cred—and that's what these 2 flicks and the gay christian church, are exploiting.

At this point, you might be thinkin', I don't see the connection—well let me break it down right quick...

First off, in the case of Spike Lee's “BlacKKKlansman”, there's a particular line of dialogue in the film's “official trailer”, that's uttered when the Ron Stallworth character, played by Denzel Washington's son, John David (JD), is asked by the supervisory cop if he can pull off having two Ron Stallworths for this operationand JD says, “With the right white man, we can do anything.”

Now, couple this with Boots' “Sorry to Bother You”, where his main character “Cash” adopts a “white voice” to excel on his joband the gay christian church's use of our vernacular (It's all good), and you'll see how whitey is trying to legitimatize these movies, and the insipidly conflicted gay/christian church, with the world's most revered cultural currency, “Black Cool Points”.

And let me break this down even further...

whitey is using our voice (and vernacular) to speak his superiority into existence. And he's doing this through characters like Ron and Cash.

Now, a lot of you are probably thinking, bruh, you're just fishin' for stuff now—whitey don't need us to legitimatize his superiority, he's already good wit' that. But what we need to realize is, our voice, more than any other, is what manifests into any kind of currency, whether it be spiritual or monetary. Thus, Jay-Z's pithy lyric: "Street knowledge amazes the scholars when we coin phrases for dollars". And mind you, I'm not a fan of Jay-Z's, but that rhyme encapsulates what Black Street Cred really does.

Don't believe me? Then check out the latest commercials for Target, Old Navy, McDonalds, KFC, Walmart, H&R Block, Dominoes Pizza, etc. And you'll see that every one of 'em, is using our cool points to sell their wares.

Everyone of 'em.

So, I've said all that to say this: if you do enough research into any art or science, not only will you find Black men and women at its genesis, but you'll see, it's our spirituality that's running not only this world, but the entire universe. And don't take my word for it, do some research on Africa's Dogon people, and you'll see how spiritually and technologically advanced they were—thousands of years before whitey existed.

And this is just one mo' reason, you should go to the mirror, smile, and say...

I LOVE BEING BLACK!

And mean it.

P.S

Here's the trailer for “BlacKKKlansman”. Now, I want you to watch out for the line, “With the right white man, we can do anything”. And note how important it is that this line is uttered by J.D. Washington, and not the white officers around him.

P.P.S.

Here's the trailer for “Sorry to Bother You”. And the part I want you to focus on most, is when Danny Glover tells Cash to use his “white voice”, if you wanna' make money here.

When will Jesus return? (Special post-Christmas editorial)

Two nights before “Christmas”, a good friend invited me to one of his church's pre-holiday services. Now, this person understands that I'm not a christian, but being that we've known each other for decades, I agreed to attend.

So a few minutes into the service, the white female pastor declared that she was gonna' give everyone in attendance a “gift”. Now, this gift she said, was associated with us winning a lottery—and then she expounded on reasons why this lottery could only be attained through being “saved”meaning, you'd have to be a person who's accepted “Jesus Christ”.

Then, she pointedly told us about the concept of “original sin” and how Jesus died for us because of that. Additionally, she said no matter how foul our mouths are, or how many banks we've robbed, Jesus died so we'd be cleansed of our inherited sin(s).

Finally, she ended the service by reinforcing the point that regardless of how egregiously we live our lives, our acceptance of Jesus will grant us everlasting life. Mind you, about half of the people seated and listening to that service, were Black.

Now, I understand how whoever's reading this is probably gonna' think—well, here comes the part where he talks about that whole Black and white/ethnic thing again. But in all fairness, this pastor's audience was mostly comprised of white people. However, in terms of how this woman's message could affect churchgoers, I'd like to make 3 points as to how this pastor's sermon might strike a Black churchgoer differently from a white one, based on our disparate kinds of conditioning.

Point#3: In terms of this white woman telling me that she's gonna' give me a “gift”, and how this includes my winning a “lottery” that comes from being saved—it immediately takes my mind to stories of the mythological “white savior” that will rescue Black people from themselves. And mind you, a white person could be (and was) sitting right next to me—but because white fascism teaches Black people from birth that we're the most vile and undesirable kinds of people on the planet, it says to my mind, that I need some sort of “external” white force to save me, or us, from our inevitable demise, due to our moral obtuseness.

Point#2: Doubling down on my last point, the concept of “original sin” reinforces to me, as a Black person, in regards to the conditioning that we specifically get (especially in the american educational system) that EVERYTHING about me is WRONG.

EVERYTHING.

And on a side note, I remember speaking to a mature brotha like myself about the dysfunction of Black people. And the gist of his argument was that Black people need to take “personal responsibility” for reconditioning ourselves out of these dysfucntions/mind-sets. And I agree—to an extent. Meaning, recently, I spoke to a young brotha, who I know is 18 years old, and he just happens to have that beautifully flawless, deeply melanated skin I love. But because of this, his friends make fun of him and say that he looks “African”.

And he retaliates aggressively when they do. Meaning somewhere, at his young age, he's gotten the message that he should be ashamed of his association with Africa. Now, here's my question/argument for the aforementioned mature brotha I was debating—how in the world, can we expect this young man to recondition himself out of his conscious/subconscious hatred of his “association” with Africa (i.e. his dark skin), when he doesn't even know it's a problem? Then I told the brotha, if and when that young brotha does realize, that hating his skin is a problem, then how does he recondition himself out of it?

Another personal example of this, was the time in my 9th grade class when a beautiful young sista said to me, when we were alone: “Damn—God didn't give us nothin', he gave us big lips and nappy hair.”

Now, check that out—she said, “God” didn't give us nothing. So, she was conditioned to think, in reference to her looks and being Black, that her very God had forsaken her. And ya' know what I said to this young sista? Nothing. Cause I felt the same way.

Fortunately, decades later, I feel completely different—and I hope she does too.

Mind you, there is a remedy for this—and that is, we have to get those young minds into “Black Nationalist” homeschooling collectives, so they're not poisoned with self-hatred from this social order's “mis-educational” system.

Point#1: And the number one point I want to make is this: ever since I was in my pre-teens, I've gotten the message that when the white christ returns, he'll set the world right again.

Now, because of the conditioning I got, especially in catholic schools, I should be able to agree with this sentiment. Fortunately though, I have alternate information (cause I'm a practitioner of the Black Spiritual Sciences), and I understand one profound truth that you won't hear in 99.9% of the church services you'll attend. And that's this: In regards to Jesus Christ, what white fascists don't want you to know is...

JESUS NEVER LEFT.

Now, you're probably thinkin, bruh—if youre agreeing that Jesus is real and was here, then how could you possibly say he never left.

Here's how...

The Black Spiritual Sciences (The Orishas, Ifa, Yoruba, Santeria, Voudun/Voodoo, etc.) teach us that the “Krist” (KRST) energies associated with these practices, are different from a physical man named “Jesus Christ”, who white fascists made up.

Now, for the sake of brevity, I'll tell you that “Jesus Christ” was an invention of the ruler “Constantine”, when he convened the “Council of Nicea” in 325 A.D. And coincidentally, it was here that 318 Roman Catholic Bishops wrote, decreed and sanctified the institution that we now know as “christianity”. And please don't take my word for this—go do your own research and find out for yourself.

Moreover, in terms of fascist dogmas and institutions, I think these Bible verses pretty much tell you the agenda of white fascist christianity/freemasonry.

Ephesians 6:5-8:

5:”Slaves, obey your earthly masters with respect and fear, and with sincerity of heart, just as you would obey Christ.”

6: “Obey them not only to win their favor when their eye is on you, but as slaves of Christ, doing the will of God from your heart.”

7: “Serve wholeheartedly, as if you were serving THE LORD, NOT PEOPLE.”

8: “Because you know that the Lord will reward each one for whatever good they do, whether they are slave or free.”

Now, I think that pretty much says it all.

So, and I'm talking exclusively to Black people, when our ancestors spoke of the “Krist/KRST”, they were speaking of energies to be accessed through the Spiritual Sciences I mentioned earlier.

And the bottom line to all these sciences is this: when you find a technique that combines your intention (prayer), with your subconscious mind, that's how you'll ultimately start to manipulate “spiritual” forces in your favor.

Then YOU will become the “CHRIST/KRST”.

Moreover, because our ingenious ancestors taught us that this particular energy is WITHIN you, it means you don't have to look for any external force to activate it—so you can save yourself.

So, while you imbibe in copious amounts of egg-nog and pumpkin pie on this holiday (holy-day), understand it's real meaning—and that is to heed our ancestors who're beseeching us to turn our KRST ENERGIES ON—so you can indeed live an abundant life that will not only benefit you, but the whole of the Black Diaspora.

And like Sam L. Jackson said in Spike Lee's movie: “Do the Right Thing”: “That's the double truth, Ruth.”

Why the Black Diaspora can't pray away their self-hatred...

In the time I've come to curate this Blog, there have been several instances where I mention how it's absolutely imperative that the Black Diaspora recondition themselves/ourselves out of the self-hatred bred into us by the american school system and other mediums.

Every time I've said this, almost without fail, a Black person will respond saying they'd rather pray to resolve these issues.

Here's why that's a losing proposition.

A couple of years ago, a woman friend of mine had a relative who was in rehab. As you could imagine, she didn't particularly like going to this facility to visit this relative, so on a few occasions, she asked me if I'd join her for a bit of moral support. I agreed.

One afternoon, this relative invited us to see the rehabilitative regimen this facility made them go through; and basically what it consisted of was heaping doses of christian doctrine and prayer. What struck me as odd was the seemingly militiristic regimentation of the classes they were mandated to take to complete the program; the place really came off like some sort of christian concentration camp. Nevertheless, the relative of my woman friend completed this program and left the facility.

Less than a month later, my woman friend's relative relapsed and was back in that same rehab facility. And I'd heard about the same things happening to the majority of this facility's patients.

You see, what the Black church and the white supremacists who founded these religions won't tell you, is prayer does change things; but one thing it doesn't change; and never will, is behavior.

In order to really change any kind of negative behavior, you have to plumb the depths of your subconscious, because more often than not, these are symtoms of some sort of childhood abuse(s). Just like the Black Diaspora's self-hatred.

Now, you may think analogies of child abuse have no place in the landscape of what's happened to the Black Diaspora in american schools, but I can assure you, if you're a Black man or woman reading this, that's exactly what that education exposed us to.

Let me give you an example; thinking of this kind of abuse, right off the bat, I can still remember the young Black woman in high school who told me, "Man, God didn't give us (Black people) nothing, we got big lips and nappy hair..." And I understood exactly how she felt, 'cause I'd been made to feel the same way. Now, let's look at this statement from both theological and psychological points of view.

This young Black woman said emphatically, "...GOD didn't give us nothing..." This means the message she got in any church she went to, 'cause you know there's one on every corner of Black neighborhoods, told her that the white jesus, or as spanish people like to call him, christo blanco, made her feel like an outcast or pariah not only to the notion that she could ever be beautiful, but to the notion that she, or her people, had anything to do with what was righteous, divine or sanctified. Those virtues were reserved for whites only. And she was doomed to live and die this way. Now, can you see the kind of psychic damage she endured to get this lowly opinion of herself at such a young age? That is but one result of the american school system's methodical abuses of Black children, thus, I use the term child abuse.

And Black people have to remember, in terms of the Black slave trade in the americas, the people in control of this were white christians. The Ku Klux Klan practice something called 'white christian science', why do you think they burn crosses? And like I've said in previous posts, the first slave ship to wash up on these shores with Black people in its belly was called, 'The Good Ship jesus'. Don't take my word for this, go look it up. Also, in the wake of a lot of Black slaves committing suicide rather than live under white people's torturous conditions, white christianity made suicide a sin, so every one of their Black slaves could literally be worked to death. And here's some more christian scripture that speaks to this sentiment:
Ephesians 6:5-8 reads, 'Slaves, obey your earthly masters with respect and fear, and with sincerity of heart, just as you would obey Christ.  Obey them not only to win their favor when their eye is on you, but as slaves of Christ, doing the will of God from your heart.' And this part really gets me...'Serve wholeheartedly, as if you were serving THE LORD, NOT PEOPLE!! Because you know that the Lord will reward each one for whatever good they do, whether they are slave or free.' Now, here's what the Black Diaspora, or the portion that considers themselves christians need to question, why would their bible endorse slavery? And why would they tell people to obey these slave masters like they obey their god? Doesn't that contradict the first commandment? You know, the one that says: 'I'm the lord your God, you shall not have any Gods before me.'

Black people need to realize what white supremacists have done is, they've taken our Black spiritual sciences (Like Vodun/Voodoo, Yoruba, The Orishas) and are now ruling the world with them, and gave us their impotent white supremacist religions (i.e. christianity, buddhism, islam, judaism, etc.). See, our ingenious ancestors knew the spiritual sciences dealt not only with the conscious, but the subconscious mind; they also knew that the rituals performed in the Black spiritual sciences before or during prayers in some way, shape or fashion, could connect the person doing them to the subconscious, which gave those incantations, divinations and prayers their real power. Without these rituals, prayer becomes a crap shoot; where you have a fifty-fifty chance of what you're praying for happening or not.

I personally have tried some divinations without tying them to the subconscious; and without the subconscious acting like more or less of a battery for these spiritual forces, they don't work. This is what's happening to Black people stuck in the paradigm of christian prayer.

And mind you, we're talking about literal decades of conditioning we've gotten to hate ourselves; so saying five 'our fathers' and ten 'hail marys' ain't gonna' do squat to reverse our self-hating mind state.

So what I'm currently working on is a technique to get into the subconscious mind within the span of less than five minutes. I realized, the more traditional methods of meditation I offered in previous posts were a little too labor intensive. So much so, I was having trouble keeping up with them. But this technique is helping me to consistently keep up with daily meditations. I'm putting this technique through more trials, but once I'm done, I'll definitely share this with the family next year.

And speaking of years, this one has been particularly trying for me; but I'd like to thank all the people who ventured to this Blog and commented, pro or con. In 2015, I've got plans for this Blog to be more productive and informative; so stay tuned, 'cause the best is truly yet to come.

See you next year!

Ma'at Hotep and Kem Wesir!
